Aloha Festival

Each year for many years now Kyo-ya has been a major partner in this annual celebration of Hawaii’s “host culture” and Hawaii’s premier cultural showcase. An enormous celebration of Hawaii’s music, dance and history, the Aloha Festival encourages preservation and appreciation of the Islands’ unique traditions.

Kyo-ya provides a performance stage for the Festivals’ biggest event, the Ho‘olaule‘a (an enormous “block party,” Hawaiian style), and suites at the Moana Surfrider to house the event’s operations center. Kyo-ya resort food vendors also take to the streets to participate in the outdoor food fair.

All told, these efforts by Kyo-ya amount to an annual donation of some $13,000. In addition, approximately 60 Kyo-ya/Starwood managers and associates serve as Block Captains, organize student volunteers, and in the weeks leading up to the event sell Aloha Festivals ribbons (a fundraiser for the Festivals – in 2010 alone, they sold $1,025 worth of ribbons).
