Sustainable Coastal Tourism Fellowship
Kyo-ya partnered with the University of Hawaii Sea Grant College to create the Sustainable Coastal Tourism Fellowship program, which seeks to help support and promote a sustainable and economically productive tourism industry in Hawaii; one that minimizes its environmental footprint, encourages stewardship of precious coastal resources, and fosters respect for Hawaii’s indigenous people and multicultural society.
The one-year fellowship includes introductions to leaders in the tourism industry, followed by a retreat to identify tourism issues for exploration. In addition to conducting research, Fellows will also partake in regular field trips to meet with stakeholders in the community to gain real-world insight into Hawaii’s tourism industry.
