To perpetuate Native Hawaiian traditions of caring for the aina (land), more than 100 associates of Kyo-ya’s Waikiki properties participated in the Manoa-Palolo Canal Adopt-A-Stream cleanup program. The associates removed litter and cut back vegetation from the banks of this stream, which feeds the Ala Wai Canal, a major Waikiki landmark.

Furthermore, around 60 associates from the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani and the Moana Surfrider, A Westin Resort & Spa helped remove invasive plant species from the grounds of the nearby Lyon Arboretum in efforts to protect endangered endemic Hawaiian plants. Kyo-ya also provided food and beverages for the hundreds of volunteers.
