"Over the Edge of Waikiki"

To support programs for Special Olympics Athletes, Kyo-ya partnered with Special Olympics Hawaii to develop a fundraising event at the Sheraton Waikiki titled “Over the Edge of Waikiki.”

Thrill-seeking participants willing to descend the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel's 31 stories are tasked with raising a minimum of $1,000 to support Special Olympics programs in Hawaii - the amount needed to cover the programming costs for each athlete.

The inaugural event, held on November 13, 2009, saw 90 thrill-seekers  rappel 315 feet down the makai side of the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, which is Waikiki’s tallest building.

The event was repeated on October 15, 2010 and again on November 5, 2011. Some Kyo-ya employees even participated, including Kelly Sanders, Sheraton Waikiki Hotel General Manager (left) and Matthew Grauso, Sheraton Waikiki Hotel Manager (below).
